Unitron Discover Next - Move Beyond The Words

The Moxi Move R 5 is the latest mid level technology from Unitron. It is their smallest Li-ion rechargeable hearing aid with the very latest advancements in technology. Unitron are using ground-breaking Artificial Intelligence classifiers to provide stellar sound quality with better all-round performance in noise and in quiet situations. Unitron claim this new platform will provide the user with meaning to the sound, so they are able to receive full emotion and context from the speaker in order to hear them clearly and without compromise. The Discover Next platform also includes a few extra features to their already very highly rated SoundCore system. The very latest innovation whilst keeping discretion in mind.

Features of the Product

Below we will talk about some of the new, and existing features included in the Discover Next platform that will further enhance the sound quality for the user.

SoundCore

SoundCore is the Discover Next's intelligent processing system. It is made up of 6 different features. These 6 features of SoundCore give the user unrivalled sound quality that is clear, crisp and sharp for sounds, as well as filtering the unwanted noises and providing automatic directionality so the user can focus on those sounds, they want to hear. The previous platform had 4 different features. With 6 features, 2 added, the Discover Next goes above and beyond to maximise sound quality, whilst maintaining the most natural feel from the hearing aids.

Sound Nav 3.0

Sound Nav 3.0 described directly by Unitron, is the building block of our SoundCore technology. It automatically identifies and classifies signals into seven distinct environments using AI (Artificial Intelligence). Four of these environments are dedicated to conversation, blending them to match real life. The 7 different environments in the Discover Next platform are as follows:

• Conversation in a crowd
• Conversation in a small group
• Music
• Quiet
• Noise
• Conversation in quiet
• Conversation in noise
• Total streaming environments 2 which include MediaNav speech and MediaNav music

Sound Conductor

Sound Conductor uses information about the environment to dynamically balance three features to reduce unwanted and distracting background noise, providing excellent quality and comfort and making speech clearer and easier to follow.

• Speech enhancement increases the volume of voices, making it easier to hear people talking.
• Noise reduction dials down distracting background noise to make listening more comfortable.
• Directionality helps hearing instrument wearers know where sounds are coming from.

Spatial Awareness

Simply put, Spatial Awareness gets the hearing instruments out of the way, so patients truly know which direction speech and sounds are coming from. Using a 4-microphone strategy, this feature acoustically separate sounds so clients can more accurately perceive their source. This feature is essential in allowing the user to feel the environment they are in whilst been able to hear the sounds that matter to them.

Soft Speech Lift

A new feature in the Discover Next platform. Soft Speech Lift identifies those sounds that are softer sounding such as a childs voice and lifts only those sounds without turning up the volume in general for those sounds you dont wish to hear. This is a brilliant new feature as it allows the user to maximise listening to those sounds, they really want to hear, that previously would have been harder to focus on. In the past in order to do this most hearing aid technology would boost all the low Hz range, whereas now the Discover Next isolates only the sound speech sounds then amplifies them to the required need. This is automatic.

Spectral Speech

The second of the new features in SoundCore. Spectral Speech is part of Unitron's exclusive Speech Pro technology. It allows the user to be able to locate, with greater ease, the direction where the voice is coming from. Most communication for hearing aid wearers, requires visual cues in order to maximise speech understanding. With Spectral Speech this is no longer the case, as the user will be able to hear from the sides, as well as in front, just as clearly with the extra enhancement of Speech Pro. 

Speech Pro

SpeechPro provides optimal speech understanding and localization from all directions, even in the most challenging listening situations: conversations in noise and conversations in crowds. Speech pro combines with spatial awareness to give the user the most realistic clear natural hearing possible. Now containing Spectral Speech, Speech Pro is more effective than ever.

Pinna Effect

Pinna Effect recreates the natural acoustics of the ear’s pinna, providing a much more true-to-life directionality, particularly in the high frequencies. This is unique to Unitron who have developed and mastered the Pinna Effect feature over time. Again, it all goes towards natural hearing for the user.

Rechargeability

The Unitron Discover Next comes with Unitron’s smallest built in Li-ion rechargeable technology that promises to give the user up to 24 hours of usage from a single charge and 7 hours of streaming. The recharging unit is a strong sturdy base and is also a combined drybox to clean and sterilise the hearing aid overnight whilst charging. The unit requires a charging cable and plug when travelling.

3 Hour Charge - 24 Hours usage (7 hours bluetooth streaming)

1.5 Hour Charge - 12-13 Hours usage (4 hours of bluetooth streaming)

0.5 Hour Charge - 6 Hours Usage (1.5 hours bluetooth streaming)

Streaming Facilities

The Discover has full bluetooth compatibility for binaural streaming from both iOS and Android devices. It also comes with a smartphone app called Unitron Remote Plus, which will allow the user to be able to control their hearing aids and adjust the settings from their phone. They are also compatible with Unitron’s range of Discover wireless accessories. However, unlike previous technology the Discover Next platform will now allow the user to connect to two mobile phones at the same time, without the need to disconnect from one in order to connect to the other. 

Build Quality

The Discover Next range of hearing aids come with a full ip68 rated shell which is both moisture and dust resistant. The Li-ion is built in a thus protected using the same resistant coating. Unitron have updated their receiver to M receivers which have a more durable and moisture resistant housing. They also use gauze wax micro filters for extra protection against dust and wax.

The Discover range of hearing aids are currently only available in receiver in the canal (RIC) and behind the ear (BTE) formats. We suspect this may change in the future. Here are the styles below
