The Oticon Real platform expands and further improves on the laready hugely sucessfull More range. Oticon have updated the tehcnology on the Polaris platform and the innovative Deep Neural Network setup. Oticon Real has been designed to give better understanding and focus to the meaningful sounds around you. Oticon have also improved the bugbears on most hearing aid wearers, the sudden loud, sharp or harsh sounds. Below we will list the key features and benefits to the new Real and how it stands as one of the best hearing aids on the current market.

The Polaris R Platform

The Polaris R platform is the backbone of Oticon Real and features within the platform have been upgraded further compared to the previous Oticon More. It is purpose-built for hearing aids. This focused approach allows it to constantly run a trained Deep Neural Network while powering all the hearing aid technology advances in Oticon Real with more speed, precision, and capacity than was ever possible before. The Oticon Real 3 processes:

• 8 times more capacity to execute advanced algorithms

• Intelligent use of industry-leading 36-channel processing

• 1x times as much computation capacity and speed

• Deep Neural Network processing

• Double the precision in 1.5-5kHz frequency bands

Deep Neural Network Process

The Deep Neural Network Process (DNNP) was developed incorporating Oticons ethos of BrainHearing technology. Oticon have focused on brain hearing technology since the launch of their original OPN technology. They have now combined this with DNNP which in simple terms is designed to actively mirror how the brain functions to provide unrivaled natural sound. DNNP has been trained using 12 million sound scenes based on real life sounds, to make sure that you get the most natural sounds from the entire world around you. Oticon is the first hearing aid company to train an on-board DNN with sounds recorded outside of the lab, radically transforming the information your hearing aids help you to hear with. Oticon More continuously and automatically provides you with the optimal sound you need in any given situation, and it does all this while ensuring you are not overwhelmed by all the sounds around you. We break DNNP down into 4 stages:

- Oticon have recorded the environmental sounds.

- The sounds are then trained into the DNNP so that it can recognise them.

- The DNNP then offers natural balancing and accurate analysis of the users soundscope.

- High resolution sound is delivered quickly and effortlessly to cater for the sound scope. This uses Oticon MoreSound amplifiers.

MoreSound Intelligence 2.0

'A Quantam Leap in Sound Scene Processing'. A bold statement from Oticon but one that looks to have some serious weight behind it. MoreSound 2.0 Intelligence captures and optimizes sounds.MoreSound Intelligence 2.0 provides access to all the relevant sounds in the environment and now includes Wind & Handling Stabilizer to provide patients a more comfortable listening experience.

Once the sound scene is analyzed, MoreSound Intelligence precisely organizes the sounds around the user, and then utilizes the DNN’s vast training from real life to process and create contrast between the identified sounds. The result is a more natural representation of all sounds in a clear, complete, and balanced sound scene. This is used in combination with the MoreSound Amplifier 2.0

MoreSound Amplifier 2.0

MoreSound Amplifier 2.0 provides precise and balanced amplification of all meaningful sounds with the help of the SuddenSound Stabilizer, detecting and controlling soft and loud sudden sounds instantly and precisely so they are audible, but not uncomfortable.

MoreSound Optimizer 2.0

Optimal gain all day, without the risk of feedback. The MoreSound Optimizer 2.0 is a further improvement on the OpenSound Optimizer which works along side Oticons renowned OpenSound Navigator to provide fantastic sound.

SuddenSound Stabilizer

Instantly and precisely balances soft and loud sudden sounds. Disruptive sounds are constantly occurring all around us. Soft sudden sounds like tapping on a keyboard and loud sudden sounds like slamming a door, demand a very different type of processing compared to other types of sound. Utilizing new detectors, SuddenSound Stabilizer monitors the sound environment and instantly adapts amplification to keep both soft and loud sudden sounds available, balanced, and comfortable. This helps patients remain aware of what’s happening around them and stay sharp. 

This is less effective in the Real 1 version compared to the flagship Real 1 and advanced Real 2 range

Wind & Handling Stabilizer

Oticon Real outperforms top competitors on managing both wind and handling noise. Wind can often cause disruptions and unpleasant sounds in hearing aids. Handling sounds, such as hands, hair, or glasses touching the hearing aid microphones, also creates an unpleasant sound. Oticon Real protects against uncomfortable wind and handling noise with double‑patented technology that detects and cleans up wind and handling noise 500 times per second, resulting in a more comfortable listening experience, with better access to speech in windy environments

Sound Enhancer

Sound Enhancer put simply is, dynamic gain primarily for speech, given in complex environments. This is automatic and fast to provide a simple transition from one complex environment to another.

Tinnitus SoundSupport

Relief sounds for tinnitus patients. Oticon's Tinnitus Sound Support presents a wide variety of different relief sounds should the end user require something further to alleviate their tinnitus.

Build Quality

The Oticon Real hearing aids are rechargeable meaning no more battery changes. The Real hearing aids are IP68-certified. That means they can withstand humidity and dust. They also comes with a manufacturers 5 year warranty for any repairs or services work needed.

Rechargeability

As previously stated all the Oticon Real range is now solely rechargeable. Oticon claim their latest rechargeable will give a full 24 hour use including streaming from smart bluetooth devices. A full charge takes 3 hours but a mini charge which gives 5-6 hours only takes 30 minutes of charging time. The Oticon chargers are well built to last and are very reliable. They are also backed by a warranty.

Streaming Facilities 

Oticon Real is a Made for Iphone Platform that uses iOS 15.2 or later that will now also stream seamlessly to Android devices that use Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) protocall. This will enable the user to stream phonecalls, music and audio from their smartphone or tablet. The Oticon ON App will allow the user to control certain facilities such as volume control, program changes and streaming facilities. The Oticon Real devices come with built in remote care facilities meaning that the user can connect with their audiologist from anywhere in the world to receive fine tuning changes and updates via their smartphone.

The Real also facilitate wireless internet using the IFTTT meaning the user can set up smart devices such as Alexa, Ring doorbells etc. They are also fully wireless to support Oticons range of wireless accessories for such as TV Streaming.

Available Hearing Aid Styles/Colours 

Currently the Real range is in a RIC (Receiver in Canal) and BTE (Behind the Ear) only. Oticon have expanded their range of colours compared to the More range which now included a Green.
